Biography & Beginnings

Laura Story was born in 1978 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Ever since she was a kid she new there was something more about the music and when she started playing Christian music, she knew that was it. The milestone in her life happened in 1996 when she met Shane Williams (also a famous Christian artist) at Columbia International University (and which was formerly known as Columbia Bible College). She was asked my Shane to play bass guitar in his already established band Silers Bald. Story did join the band and released four independent albums with the band. The last one was self titled in 2000. In 2002 her manager advised her to leave the band and start her own singing career. Laura listened to the idea and went on her own.

Two years later she writes Indescribable which was released on Chris Tomlin 2004 album Arriving. It received a world-wide fame and in 2006 used again by a Christian band called Avalon.

Marriage and Difficulties

In 2005 Story married Martin Elvington, a famous athlete. They move to Atlanta, Georgia where she still lives today and works as a Worship Leader at Perimeter Church.

Soon after their marriage Martin was diagnosed with a tumor. The situation was hard and a great test of faith for both of them. But prayers and family support got them through stronger. Since leaving Silers Bald Story wrote many songs and released four independent albums. The list is here:

Blessings – released in 2011.

The last one was released in May, 2011 and was commercially the most successful one. I was charted on Billboard Heartseekers Song and Bubbling Under Hot 100 as well.
